Implementation-How we get moving in the right direction

The appropriate method is dependent upon the cause of the problem. For example, if the problem is incorrect billing we would probably use the Root Cause Analysis approach because most likely variation in the input to the billing clerk is causing the incorrect bills. On the other hand if the problem is that it is taking too long to produce something we might use the Cycle Time Reduction tools. In this case where the cause of the problem is probably too many redundancies, to much time waiting for something, too many checks, etc; Cycle Time Reduction or Business Process Improvement as we often call it is usually a proposed solution.
 
These processes help the client to redesign how something is done by focusing on speed, elimination of non-value-added steps, or doing things concurrently.
In both instances, we work through committed senior management acting as a steering team and specially trained teams. The teams diagnose the problem, recommend solutions and then implement the approved solutions. Management directs the teams to focus upon those critical or core processes that will produce desired and necessary results. This approach not only generates incredible gains to the organization in terms of higher quality, greater productivity, greater customer satisfaction, but it also improves employee moral and loyalty. In many instances this is the first time that the team members have had a say in determining what and how they do their jobs.
